Finally, off to Emmett’s in West Dundee for some much deserved refreshments. Including some members who just stopped by for lunch, we had over 50 people eating, drinking and telling MG tales while waiting for the results of the rally.
Reinout stepped up and announced the results. The winner of the guess the candy corn contest was Dean Hickenlooper who guessed 167. The correct number was
165. Wonder if all 165 made it home with them.
The rally winners were as follows; coming in third place was the Bob Weinstein/ Jackson team representing the Vintage club.
There was a tie for second place. Russ and Amy Mehaffey tied with Sunday Mead and Rich Meservey. We’ve seen these two teams in the top standings all season long. Coming in all alone in first place was Jeff and Sharon Powell. What a great demonstration of driving, timing and navigational skills.
However, not all of the cars can come in first place. Proving that were Jim Compton and his navigator Bob Dorley who brought up the rear. My guess is they were checking for any left behind spirits or goblins. Congratulations to all of the participants.
There were some very creative and humorous costumes attending this year’s rally. First place for women was Sundy Mead, who along with Rich Meservey made a great “Ghost Busters” team.
Not to be outdone, in first place for men was Matt Schemluck who was dressed in Lucus attire. Short circuiting lights and all.
Well, the driving season is over. Now is the time to start thinking about what needs to be done on our MG’s getting them ready for the Spring Chicken Rally in May of 2017.
