A FAREWELL PARTY FOR THE VOGT’S
On Saturday, October 14th there was a special gathering of the MG faithful. This was a unique opportunity to say farewell to Reinout and Henneke Vogt who, after many wonderful years of friendship and service to the Chicagoland MG Club are leaving us.
The Vogt's have sold their home in Prospect Heights and will relocated to Decatur, GA which is a suburb of Atlanta. Geor-gia is a beautiful state, highly forested with beautiful hills and dales not to mention some extraordinary beaches. Having investigat-ed both the Atlanta and Athens GA areas to move to ourselves, Susan and I found the state a great place to live although be it just a tad on the hot side.
Ray and Sue Hansen held a last hurrah party for Reinout and Henneke and over 40 of the MG faithful showed to say good bye.
There was plenty of good food and drink and the spirits were high although the event does mark itself with some sadness too.
Reinout and Henneke have been stabilizing fixtures in our club having actively participated in many (or should I say "all") club events. Reinout was event coordinator for many years and wrote a continuous series of event articles in the Driveline. He al-ways brought careful thought, clam and creativity to both staff meetings and club meetings alike. Their charitable work outside the club must also be noted!
Susan and I will also be moving from Illinois to the Knoxville TN area next year. I made it a point to let Reinout and Henneke both know that we will be close and fully intend to visit and have them visit us. They will be missed!
