Cruise to the Rock
23rd Annual Event
Thursday, November 23, 2018
Thanksgiving morning temperatures 10 degrees below normal did not deter members of the Chicagoland MG Club and others from driving to Jackson Park for the annual observance of the 1895 Times Herald Race. Those attending included Phil Wydra (73 MGB) with navigator Bob Dorely, Doug Clark (68 MGC), Steve Sparks & Jody Simons (65 Midget), Dean Hickenlooper (77 MGB-V8), Bill Kalafut (driving Dean’s TR6), David Newman (79 MGB), John Kerns & Juliana Dukov (MGB-LE), Jim Renkar, Scott Fohrman (74 Alfa), and Ann & Jake Snyder (68 MGB stored for the winter in Marengo). There were also the usual Corvettes, GM muscle cars, a Lotus 7 (Catterham?), etc.
Bill Wildt was on hand to talk to car club members.

If the usual representatives from the Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade arrived, we left before they did. Bill Wildt was talking with everyone and taking photographs, but did not film video this year. He will instead produce a slide show of the event- you can find his programs on YouTube. Sgt. Russell of the 3rd District, CPD graciously allowed us a parking curtesy along eastbound Midway Plaisance, adjacent to the site.
After taking a group photo, some of us concluded the morning with brunch at Harvey’s (formerly Stage’s) on 31st Street near Halsted, where the wait staff greet us with smiles and hugs, even though we see them only once a year.
