Then heading south (and finding marginally better weather) we stopped at the Moss Motors warehouse in Petersburg, Virginia. We intended to pick up a new windscreen glass to avoid the stiff shipping charges for the oversize package, but alas they are no longer open for Saturday morning counter hours. Bummer. We will have to re-schedule this sometime later (or pay $60 to have it shipped somewhere).

We did a quick visit to Nichols Speedometer & Instrument Company in Greensboro, NC where they can repair or restore pretty much any kind of dash instrument new or old. We also visited Vintage Mechatronics in Hickory, NC where they make and retrofit electronic voltage regulators into your Lucas control box to work like modern while looking vintage.
We were heading into the twisty mountain roads of the Pisgah National Forest when the trailer decided it was time to remind us that we still needed to change the bad wheel bearings, which we had been ignoring since cleaning and greasing them in Quebec on Sept 1, so there was an hour delay to fix that on the side of a dirt road. At least it picked a warm, dry, sunny day this time. We were "up there" to visit ADDCO Manufacturing Co in Linville, NC, claimed to be the manufacturing center of the world's largest manufacturer of automotive sway bars. This is the place that makes the aftermarket type sway bars for our beloved LBC's. Surprise! The factory has been gone for about two years (really gone, leveled, with a new industrial building in its place). Pretty sure they are not out of business, so will have to call to find out where the factory may have been relocated.

We did a one-day service call in Lexington, SC to touch up three MGs for two old friends, mostly choke and starter problems. And we did a drive-by for pictures of McMaster-Carr Supply Company in Douglasville, GA. This place is huge, at least 600x900 feet, more than half a million square feet (maybe a bit larger), and multiply by three stories tall for volume. I put this business on our Shops list because I have been buying stuff from here for decades. They have industrial supplies of every type imaginable, like fasteners, tools, shelving, welding supplies, electrical, Speedy-Sleeves, bearings, air compressors and accessories, paint sprayers, and lots of other stuff you can use for maintenance and restoration of you vintage British cars.

Our most recent stop was to do a tech session for Brits in The Valley in Columbus, GA. Turned out that no one needed any immediate service on their car(s), so it turned into a Q&A tech session to some benefit, then rest of the day off.
Then we turned it North again, because I have notice of a relative's funeral in northwest Illinois (in my old home town of New Windsor near Galesburg). On Sunday 11/25/18 northern Illinois is being hit with a severe snow storm across the state from the Quad Cities to Chicago. We are hoping it will have mostly blown over by the time we cruise into the area on Tuesday and Wednesday, but then expecting much colder temperatures, like 6°F Tuesday night before the Wednesday funeral. I was recently wondering why we were in Pennsylvania in November, and then this? Shiver me timbers, but I suppose we will survive. By the time you read this in Chicago you may all know exactly what it was like.
