Cruise to the Rock
24th Annual Event
Thursday, November 28, 2019
Thanksgiving morning temperatures were only a few degrees below normal this year and were warmer than last year, but perhaps the lack of sunshine was the reason that only nine Chicagoland MG Club members joined a larger-than-normal crowd in Jackson Park for the annual observance of the 1895 Times Herald Race. Those attending included David Newman (1979 MGB), Lisa & David Novak (1974 MGB), Liz & Steve LaFond (74 ½ MGB), Scott Fohrman (1969 Elan- though we all know he races a B and a J2), Doug Clark (1954 TF), and Ann & Jake Snyder (68 MG, already stored in Marengo).
Does anyone recognize this TF?

A sports car club from Oak Park was represented by 60 cars, including Corvettes and Porsches, and there was a blue MG TF whose driver we did not have a chance to meet. Bill Wildt was talking with everyone, but again did not film video this year. He will likely include a description in one of his programs on YouTube.
Tall person (aka Scott Fohrman) demonstrates getting into his Elan.

This was an unusually fine opportunity to talk to Mr. Wildt who is legendary for having operated a public access TV motorsports forum for many years. As well, there were seldom seen autos being operated in street version, including Toyota Supras and the Lotus Elan. Yes, this was another reminder that there have been many marques besides our own though not as popularly remembered.
