“The Christmas Jigsaw Puzzle”

My family has a Christmas tradition that we do every year. It is finishing a jigsaw puzzle over the time that everyone is here. This year was no different except for the jigsaw itself, a 1000+ piece puzzle of an MGB.

Day 1 - This was a puzzle we had gotten at a club silent auction here in Tennessee, a few years back which just sat in the closet. I am not even sure why this year it was chosen as I had little to do with it. However, there it was one day the puzzle box sitting on the living room coffee table ready

I am sure most members reading this have done jigsaw puzzles and know the best place to start is doing the frame around them. The pieces are small and just about all the same color. Agonizing. However, the family team kept at it.

Day 2 brought Susan and our 2 girls, Caroline and Rachel, into full attack puzzle mode and some good progress was made. I came out of my slumber Day 3 and found Susan, still in bathrobe with coffee nearby continuing the work solo. The kids were still in bed and frankly I, not being a morning person, was up early. There she was. An English girl putting together a jigsaw puzzle of an English car. Could that be a motivation?

Day 4 started much like Day 3 with me creeping out of bed and seeing my wife back at it again. Susan seemed as though she was getting very determined at this moment. In the puzzle the B itself was looking better, but as you see from the pictures the dark area above was still not done at all. Every piece the same color, no variation and all looked the same!
Even the Safety Fast art was mind boggling.

Day 5 was when my daughter Rachel took the initiative first, with daughter Caroline following close behind. This was where I realized there might be a “Driveline” article here. Rachel was working the infamous black area above the car.

Wow, this thing was taking shape and after the agony of wondering if it could ever be done things were now looking up!
