I am writing this on March 20, the first full day of spring. In the midst of this Corona Virus it’s hard to predict if we will still be under lockdown, home arrest, or social distancing. As of now we have NOT cancelled the spring tune-up party, but that could change. We’ll let you know on the club’s web site and the weekly e-mail blast.
This will be the seventh year of Don’s Auto Ade hosting the tune-up party. We will follow the same routine as we have in the past. Starting at high noon six indoor service racks will be available to us for oil changes, repairs, underbody inspections, etc. Dave ‘Cowboy’ Bralich and other experienced members will be on hand to assist. There is an Advanced Auto Parts nearby but bring your own 20w50 oil and filters. Sam from Don’s will mount and balance tires, including those on wire wheels, and do alignments for a reasonable fee. If you need new tires or batteries call ahead and they can be ordered. Numerous brands available. I’ll be there offering useless advice and to smoke a cigar or two. All work must be completed by 4PM so check in with Dave before starting anything major.
After the work is completed it’s off to Rock Bottom Brewery at 4:30 PM for a natter noggin, bench racing and just plain B.S.ing. Feel free to join us even if you don’t make it to Don’s. Both are located in scenic Warrenville, just off of the E/W tollway I88.

Car Care Safety Clinic for Seniors
May 9, 2020
A sure sign of Spring is the Naperville and Lisle Townships TRIAD Free Car
Clinic for Seniors, Saturday May 9, 2020 from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon at the Lisle
Township, 4711 Indiana Ave., Lisle, IL 60532.
The safety clinic which provides a free 40-point safety inspection of vehicles driven by senior citizens (ages 50 and older). The event grows each year as the Triad organization’s outreach to seniors continues to expand.
Vintage and antique cars will again be on display; most are vehicles owned by our volunteer “car guys” who help perform the inspections. Chicagoland MG Club (CMGC) member Jim Vondran coordinates the Triad car safety clinics and really appreciates the enthusiastic participation of volunteers from the CMGC, the Chicago area Model T Club, and the Chicagoland Miata Club each year.
Please contact Jim directly at (630) 234-7102 to affirm your participation, either as an inspection team crew-member and/or displaying your vintage car, or just stopping by for a portion of the time so that our seniors can see your car while their vehicles are being inspected.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic, this event might be cancelled. The Triad organization will make thedetermination on March 31st. Jim Vondran will notify us whether the event is on or cancelled.
