Victor Lheureux
Monthly Meeting Minutes
March 15, 2021

23 Members in attendance

CMGC President Phil Wydra opened the ZOOM meeting at 7:01 pm.

  Swap Meet
Jim Evans
reported that after investigating alternate indoor/outdoor venues, the most promising site was the DuPage County Fairgrounds outside area. Due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 mandates and the lead time required for the event to occur, the decision was made to cancel the Swap Meet for 2021. A suggestion was made to try to reschedule for a Fall date (November?) that, although sounded like a good solution, would need a thorough investigation before committing the required ‘up-front’ fees required with no assurance of success.

  Guest Speaker
Phil introduced Mike Woodard—President, Houston MG Car Club< — to address the Chicagoland MG Club. The members found it very interesting to hear about how another club runs and their activities. Mike noted that the Houston club was also running ZOOM meetings and also ZOOM Technical Sessions. Mike finished his visit with a pop quiz awarding the member with the most correct answers to MG related questions. Barney Gaylord was the winner of a copy of the Glovebox Companion. Barney opted to receive an email version and donate the hard-copy to the club library.

Car Projects
Bill Kalafut
noted he was running into electrical problems. It seems his YB electrical system would generate smoke when turned on. He found the problem to be in the rewiring of positive-to-negative grounding was incomplete.
Kevin Carlson is investigating a raw gas smell. So far the gas tank is okay, still troubleshooting the [problem.

Staff Reports

Club in-person meetings—with the uncertainty of Mack’s Golden Pheasant reopening, the club is looking for an alternate meeting place as early as May.

Respectfully submitted,
Victor L’Heureux,

Uncle Phil died in 2009 at 78 - it was a great loss to the Vintage club and MG’ers all around. No one in my family was left-handed, except for Uncle Phil and me. We were not blood related, but Uncle Phil had been in my life since I was born - so too me he was my uncle.

RIP Uncle Phil we miss you, but you will always be in our hearts.

Stay Safe and Healthy,

~~ Melissa Gonzales
