MGs on Parade
(In the LaGrange Pet Parade)!!
Sat. 4 June - 9:30 a.m.

In 2019, our MGs returned to the streets of downtown LaGrange as a participant in the LaGrange Pet Parade after an absence of many years.  Plus, we had a member walking with dogs in a wagon.  (We were supposed to have at least two or three more MG drivers, but they were scratches at the last minute.)

The Parade Committee has welcomed our interest again this year, and we expect our submitted entry to this year's Parade to be approved. We have requested an early entrance into the Parade (They will notify us by mid-May where our cars will be staged in advance, most likely at 9:00 a.m.)

We indicated that we could have up to ten MGs. If we could have some T-types, that would be great - since this was an VMGCC driving event for many years.

This Parade was first held in 1947 to benefit Pet Parade Charities, an organization that supports animal care and the bonds between kids and animals. Many non-profit groups take part. For more information about the Parade and the charities it supports, see the web site. (Also, you can view our members and cars in the 2019 Parade at the 1 hour 12-minute mark of the YouTube video, although the narrative isn't entirely accurate.)

The Parade route is about 1.5 miles. After the Parade, we can gather at a local restaurant for snacks and beverages. If you have a dog and would like to walk with in the Parade, that would be fine, too. Updates will be provided at upcoming meetings and email blasts as the event date nears.

Send an email to Doug G. Clark (mgtbc@sbcglobal.net) if you are interested in driving or walking in the Parade.

Safety Fast!

Lake County Fun Run!!!!
June 12, 2022

Come one, come all to the 2nd Annual Lake County Fun Run!

This will allow MG drivers and passengers to be social or to distance themselves, depending on how fast they want to drive. Speed limits along the route are mostly in the 40 – 50 mph range. We will explore some of the farmland and rurall areas just off the beaten track in northeast Lake County.

This is not exactly a rally since it won't be timed, but there will be things to watch for and write down, with points awarded for the correct answers. The winner will receive a recycled trophy!

  • The driver's meeting will take place at 9:45 AM in front of Jimmy's Charhouse, in Butterfield Square at the corner of Route 137 and Butterfield Road, Libertyville. There is a McDonald's right there if you need the loo or a cup of coffee.

  • The drive will take approximately two hours and end at a picnic area in Adeline Geokaris Illinois Beach State Park. Break out your picnic basket (I know you have at least one) and pack your own food and drink, but no alcohol is allowed in the park.
