Post cards from Karel
An ‘Auto’biography of History
I didn’t get a new postcard from Karel this month, maybe he’s on vacation. But I found one that Karel sent in 2014, which is actually very relevant this year, with the 60th anniversary of the MGB.
This card was sent from the Geneve Salon de l’Auto, the annual motorshow in Geneva, Switzerland. The card is post-marked March 24, 1963. Although the MGB was introduced in September of 1962 and first shown at the London Motorshow in Earls Court in October of that year, this was the first time that MGB was shown on what the British called ’the Continent’. On display at the MG booth were the MGB plus the cut-out model, demonstrating all its new features, and a Magnette, the Farina designed four-door sedan.
