Hello MG Guys & Gals!!!!!!

Here we are – SEPTEMBER????? Where did our summer go? I don’t consider September the start of the fall season, I like to refer to this month as an extension to the end of the summer season – after all – the weather is truly at its best – Many hot days and pretty much warm throughout the month!! As we approach the end of the month, the tree’s start turning colors and nights are cooler, but not cold! It is my FAVORITE month of the year!!!

Now…stay with me – this is going to be a pretty LONG write up – a FOR SURE 2 pager!!!! Lots to go over and inform all of you on……….HERE WE GO………

Last month, we had two AMAZING events with REMARKABLE turnouts!!!!
On Aug 19th, The Westmont Crusin’ Night Rally once again had an astonishing turnout of a total of 24 cars ranging from Vintage T types to Midgets, B’s GT’s and various other British type cars. It was quite a display of MGs for all those to see and judge as public patrons and members of our club voted for the “People’s choice awards”. Bill & Jean Heasley graciously hosted and organized yet another FABULOUS Event handing out Awards for both their Walking Rally, 1st thru 3rd place winners & Best in Show people’s choice award 1st thru 6th place ribbons!
They also provided a delicious catered dinner and refreshments.
CONGRATS TO ALL!!! ALL THE CARS LOOKED STUNNING and IMPRESSIVE!!!!!! AS ALWAYS…. SO MUCH FUN!!!! Thank you Bill & Jean for a FABULOUS NIGHT!!!! It was a GREAT EVENT!!!!!

On Sunday the 22nd Carl Vogel & Laurel Fredericks did not disappoint in hosting and organizing the FABULOUS TALLY HO RALLY. There were a total of 20 cars consisting of both Vintage T-Types and MGBs. Once again, Carl & Laurel organized a Lovely scenic driving route that was timed and scored with challenging questions along the route.
They presented 1st – 9th place unique “Fox” award gifts to the following:
- 1st Place (TIED) Phil & Cameron Risner and Phil & Sandy Wydra,
- 3rd Place-Bill Kalafaut & Jean Heasley,
- 4th Place-Doug Clark & Tim Schafer,
- 5th place-Glenn & Barb Glossklags,
- 6th place –Ric & Nancy Maitzen,
- 7th place-Tom & Vicki Moore,
- 8th place – Dean & Kerry Hickenlooper
- 9th place- Eric and Carolyn Gruber.
EXCELLENT JOB YOU GUYS!!!!! CONGRATS!!!!!!

This month is offering another 2 spectacular events. A MUST GO TO- British Car Festival taking place on Sunday, September 12th. Details in this month’s driveline.

A very special and long overdue GARAGE TOUR EVENT is taking place at Jeff Powell’s Garage!!!! I have heard so many members saying what an incredible garage Jeff has! Lots to see!!! PLEASE COME OUT on Sunday, September 19th where Jeff & Sharon Powell will host a tour of their car and bike collection in their notorious garage in Melrose Park. I can’t wait to see everything!! Lunch will follow at Russell’s BBQ in Elmwood Park. Make sure to drive your MG’s – I hear there is a LARGE Parking area for us to park together and create a mini MG CAR SHOW for everyone to see and admire!!!!!!

Saturday the 16th the Car Care Safety Clinic for Seniors will be hosted again by Jim Vondran
. As you all are aware, this is a heartfelt event that really helps out the seniors and gives our members a chance to chat and give a helping hand with oil changes, and minor issues with the senior’s cars!! I hope many of you show up and participate in this wonderful event!


A “MODIFIED” WBC (wine beer and cheese) tour (day trip only) is officially scheduled for Sunday, October 10th!!! Amy & Russ Mehaffey are looking SO FORWARD to putting this DAY TRIP together!!! For those of you who have attended their famous WBC weekend tour – you are in for a treat on this day trip!!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND those who have not gone on this tour in the past to DEFINITELY attend this day trip!!!!!! Russ and Amy put in a lot of time to modify this weekend into one day of a LOVELY drive into Wisconsin and stop(s) along the way. More details are in this month’s driveline.

The HALLOWEEN RALLY is scheduled for Sunday, October 24th .This is ALWAYS GREAT FUN!!!! Sandy & Phil Wydra will AGAIN host and organize this WONDERFUL EVENT!!! PUT ON YOUR HALLOWEEN COSTUME and win a prize for BEST COSTUME!!!!! This rally is NOT timed, but will be scored on the FUN AND CHALLENGING games along the route!!!! We will talk about November NEXT MONTH – Our driving season went WAY TOO FAST!!!!!
