Monthly Meeting Minutes

  CMGC President Phil Wydra opened the meeting at 7:01 pm. Phil introduced new member Stanley Mack of Schaumburg, IL. Stanley owns orange 1979 MGB. Welcome!

  Meeting Minutes - September meeting minutes as written in the Driveline were approved

Car projects
Bill Kalafut
- has a new project - a 1966 MG 1100. The car has been sitting for about 25 years in a garage, looks in pretty good shape. Should be a fun project.
Steve Sparks - Took his 65 Midget toMotorworks of Dekalb for a serious makeover. Replaced gas tank, front bushings, control arm and installed new gas shocks.

Staff Reports
Treasurer's report
- Treasurer Jim Compton submitted the following via email: as of 9/19/2021 - Total available funds - $30,095.81. Checking - available funds - $7,536.94; Savings - ending balance - 22,558.87.

Librarian - nothing new to report
Membership - Two new members joined in early September. The current membership in good standing is 210.

Driving Events
Past events

  Oct 9th - Car Care Safety Clinic for Seniors- Jim Vondran reported that eight CMGC members along with folks from the Chicago Windy City Miata Club assisted in servicing 61 cars.
Oct 10th - Wine, Cheese & Beer outing - Great turnout for this event. Only a little rain to dampen the roads.

Upcoming events include:
  Oct 24th - Sunday Halloween Rally - Phil noted the Driver’s meeting will start at 10 o’clock with the first cars out at 10:30. There will be a costume contest for individuals, couples and the car.
Nov 7th - Fall Tune-down at Dave Bralich’s house. Dave’s famous chili will be on hand for all.
Nov 26th - Cruise to the Rock - This annual event for lots of years planned by Jake & Ann Snyder will not happen this year since the area used for the event is fenced for construction of the Presidential Library.

 







Old Business.
Natter N Noggin’
- The November meeting will take place at the garage of Tom Raddatz in Lagrange Heights. The site is currently hosting the Wednesday Garage Group working on cars and sharing camaraderie. The garage is heated- bring your own libations - Tom will provide some munchies!
Holiday Party - a voice vote was taken, and the decision was to have a holiday party after the holidays. Jamie will contact Dave Novak.
CMGC Website committee - Tim Schafer reported the website is making some progress developing the ‘look & feel’ of the club website.
50-50 Raffle - $37.00 - Maynard Hirsch; Walt Kreitling - CMGC mug set; Tom Lancaster - CMGC pint glasses; Bill Kalafut - tire gauge.

New Business
CMGC Anniversary Party!
- The club was formed 45 years ago. A cake and sparkling juice was available during the break.
Swap Meet - Jim Evans noted that this event is on the books at the DuPage Fairgrounds and the vendor invites will be sent after the 1st of the year.
Elections - Nominations were made and accepted from the floor. Vice President - Paul Pickley; President - Melissa Gonzales; Secretary - Victor L’Heureux. Additional nominations will be accepted at the November club meeting.
Car Title - Vintage cars without a title can be difficult to acquire license registration in Illinois. An alternate solution is to register the car in the state of Vermont, then transfer to Illinois. To register your vehicle you will need: Proof of auto insurance. A completed Registration/Tax/Title Application (Form VD-119). A Bill of Sale and Odometer Disclosure Statement (Form VT-005).

With no further business to discuss, meeting closed at 8:10 pm.
