CMGC Project Car
1974 MGB-GT
Club Project Car – Paul Pickley noted that the 1974 MGB-GT will be moved to Tom Raddatz’s shop soon. All members will have an opportunity to assist in getting this car running and ready for sale.
Well the club MGB GT project is well underway. The interior is out and bumpers are off. We’ve (Bill Kalafut & Dean Hickenlooper) cut panels off Tom’s yellow parts car to use on the project. The more we strip down the project car the more rust we find. Typical I suspect of most MG’s.
I’m thinking another evaluation of the car might be wise to determine if it’s worth of our effort. I’d also like to know who’d be interested and willing to commit to working on the project. It’s going to take more than just one day a week by one or two members to complete this in a timely manner. Let Paul Pickley know if you up for it !
SAFTY FAST ! Dean Hickenlooper
Current tasks planned:
1– Welding and structural integrity will probably the
first task on the agenda.
2– Fuel system servicing
3– Engine evaluation and powertrain servicing
4– Hydraulic systems overhaul
5– Suspension & steering
6– Electrical system checkout
7– Verify safety equipment functional
8– Interior work
9– Painting
As the project continues, other items will probably materialize. Who knows?
This is a great opportunity to get involved in repairs that you may not have any experience. Hands-on is a great way to learn new skills.
All members are welcome, no need to sign up...just show up ready to help!
We have most of the tools re-quired at the shop.
We meet at Tom’s garage in LaGrange Highlands at around 6:30 pm. See you there!
