04-19-99 MEETING REPORT

Maynard Hirsch, Diana Gonzales, Steven Selan and Sharon Anderson called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. 50 members were present. Two guests were present, Rudy Mansell and Frank Wallace.

OLD BUSINESS

Utica Driving School:
Don Anderson reported that 14 drivers in 12 cars participated in our first driving school. Twelve drivers passed the course with two failing to get "drunk". Everyone who participated indicated that the event was very successful and very helpful in honing their competitive driving skills. Our thanks goes out to the instructors including: Kelvin Palmer, Barney Gaylord, Reinout Vogt, Don & Scott Anderson; with a special thanks to Scott who managed to obtain a Mustang convertible for the club use.

Spring Tune-up Party:
Bill Hedrick reported that in spite of a cold, rainy, miserable day, 15 members availed themselves of the opportunity to work on their cars at the recent Tune- up Party. Later that afternoon the membership proceeded to Papa Passero's Restaurant for pizza and beer. Thanks to all who attended and helped get our cars ready for Spring.

NEW BUSINESS

Utica Autocross:
Members were encouraged to attend the Utica Autocross scheduled for Sunday, June 6, 1999. George Geoppner will coordinate the event and promises to have a separate class for T-types. This will be the chance to show off those skills that you learned at the driving school last month. Be sure to mark your calendar now.

The Spring Rally:
Curt Bork will be rally master at the Annual Spring Rally, previously known as the "Spring Chicken Rally". The event will leave from the Pride Gas Station at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday May 2, 1999 and terminate at the Roosters Barn and Grill in Bloorningdale. With the cooperation of Mother Nature we expect 20 to 25 cars participating. Try not to miss this event which kicks off the rally season. Anyone will be allowed to participate in the rally, however only current member will accumulate points towards the annual championship.

Picture Contest:
Bill Mennell announced the winners of his picture contest as follows: First place Joanne Trowbridge, Second place Jake & Ann Snyder, and Third place Dave Tucker. They were awarded MGF brochures.

Tool Program:
Jim Evans announced that the Club had been donated a king-pin reamer. The donation was made through the kindness of Ken Smith and Moss Motors. They have supported this club for many years and we encourage our members to avail themselves of their fine line of products. Jim also announced that the engine hoist has been repaired and is once again available for member use.

Technical Session:
Dave Bralich announced that he would be running a technical session at his home garage on Sunday, May 23, 1999. On that date he will demonstrate a complete front end rebuild on an MGB. He will be demonstrating the use of the king-pin reamer recently donated. This session will be videotaped for further use by the members.

Lands End Rally:
Tom Josefek encouraged everyone to sign up as soon as possible if they intend to participate in this year's Lands End Rally now scheduled for June 12, & 13, 1999. This promises to be one of the highlights of the driving season. We are expecting participation from numerous other clubs in the Tri-State area. All registrations must be received 10 days prior to the event. Contact Tom for further information at his shop (630) 469-2462. In lieu of an evening program the issue of club grill badges was discussed. Scott Anderson and Curt Bork presented a sample that they had produced. The membership voted to request two more varieties be produced with a final selection to take place at the next meeting on May 17, 1999. If you wish to have an input in the selection be sure to attend the next meeting.

Congratulations, went out to club members Bill Hedrick and Kim Tonry for their third place finish in the Missouri endurance rally with a special congratulations to club member Barney Gaylord for winning the event.
