DESCRIPTION:Even though this year’s election was uncontested\, it is no less important than any other year. Melissa Gonzales has retained the position of CMGC President. Paul Pickley will again serve as Vice-President\, Kevin Carlson will stay on as Treasurer. Sharon Powell will continue as Secretary A thank you goes out to Dave ‘Cowboy’ Bralich for again serving as our election official. \n\n\n\nPresident Melissa Gonzales\, Melissa is the owner of 1979 MGB LE and has been a CMGC member since August 2017. She is a current member of NAMGBR and has attended the national meets. She has been involved with MGs since she was 7 years old and it has been a big part of her life. Her mother and father traveled from east to west and north to south with their MGs and she hopes to do the same. Her motto ‘keep calm and carry on the MG legacy’. Melissa also serves on the website committee. \n  \n\n\n\nVice-President Paul Pickley\, Paul has been in this club since April of 2020. He joined the club shortly after the purchased of his first MGB. Paul currently has a 1977 MGB that is running well. He still considers his car a project\, but that’s kind of what got him into these cars. Paul’s father had an MGB when he was a kid which started the interest MGs. Paul also serves on the website committee. \n  \n\n\n\nSecretary Sharon Powell\, Sharon has been a club member since 1979\, serving as secretary the first time in the early 80’s. She previously owned a 1967 MGB and a 1958 Magnette ZB. Her and her husband Jeff currently own a 1971 MGB (that Jeff purchased new) and a 1948 MG TC. Both cars have been on many MG club trips (Midwest and eastern US and Canada) over the past 40 years. Their motto is: The family that MG’s together\, stays together. “We are grateful for all of the friendships we have made over the years through this club.” \n\n\n\nTreasurer Kevin Carlson\, Kevin owns a 1969 MGB which has seen some track time at Blackhawk Farms\, Milwaukee Mile\, and Road America. Kevin has been a member since 2004 and accepted the club’s treasurer position in May 2022. Advocates that the technical expertise of members and driving events are the essence of the club.

SUMMARY:2024 - Hot Dog Poker Run Rally\, July 28th
DESCRIPTION:Hot diggity dog\, time to get your poker  face on and join the CMGC on its third annual Hot Dog Poker Run!  \nParticipants will zip through country roads and enjoy the sites driving a set route while answering some not too difficult questions. On departure\, each car will receive playing cards. Additional cards will be dispensed at stops along the way. The final cards will be given when the participants turn in their score sheet. The car with the most correct answers wins the rally. The car with the best poker hand wins the poker run. \nThe route will consist of about 60-miles through Cook\, McHenry and Lake Counties lasting around two hours. Final destination is Superdawg 333 S Milwaukee Ave\, Wheeling. SUMMARY:2024 - CMGC celebrating the Summer Solstice\, Thursday June 20th
DESCRIPTION:THE LONGEST DAY (IN OUR MGs) \nThis spring\, some of us might have been fortunate enough to celebrate and witness a potentially once-in-a-lifetime astronomical event – a total solar eclipse.  Soon\, an annual astronomical event will occur – the Summer Solstice (Thursday 20 June). \nWhy not celebrate it – in our MGs?  What could be a better way to end the longest day of the year? \nSo…let’s have several clusters of CMGC members at various drive-ins / ice cream stands / hamburger joints in the area – north\, south\, west\, northwest\, southwest.  It’s very likely that there are such popular summertime carry out / dessert establishments\, as well as those that are chains or franchises (e.g.\, Dairy Queen\, Baskin-Robbins). \nCall up two or three club members who live in the area – and pick somewhere to meet. \nArrange a time – 6:00 p.m.? 7:00 p.m.? 8:00 p.m.?  After you’ve had enough to eat\, cruise together for a twilight drive with the tops lowered while you feel that warm breeze (without the hot sun beating down on you). \nAs the date is not on a Friday or Saturday\, it’s hoped that enough parking will be available\, whether in a parking lot or on the street.  Make sure to bring some of the Club’s “business cards” to pass out to curious (and jealous\, no doubt) diners or passersby who stop to admire and talk. \nWe’ll include this “event” on the calendar\, even though there won’t be a central meeting location or one main organizer.  Email blast reminders will be sent. \nTHIS WOULD BE WEATHER DEPENDENT!  Obviously\, if the weather is likely to be  threatening in your area (i.e.\, thunderstorms incl. hail / high winds) you won’t want to go.   (It might not be bad throughout the whole area\, though.)  Some of us might have to play it by ear\, and adjust plans at the last minute – by phone / text / email. \nLet’s hope for good weather on Thursday 20 June.  If you go\, take a couple of pictures and then send them to our newsletter editor for the July issue\, and submit them for the website.  It would be nice to see a collage of Club members and their MGs at different drive-ins throughout the metro area. \nThis Club outing is NOT an actual Driving Event – so NO points or dash plaques) would serve two purposes – marketing for CMGC and MGs\, and a way to enjoy the longest day of 2024 and the start of astronomical summer in our cars.
