SUMMARY:2024 - The MG Tweed Tour\, April 27th
DESCRIPTION:A seasoned veteran in putting together original and unique driving events. Doug Clark is organizing yet another “themed” driving tour. \nDrivers meeting:12:15 PM\nStart: 12:30 PM\nStart Location: Starbucks – West side of Route 59\, north of 95th St. (Naperville Crossings shopping center)\nWe will drive our MGs in tweed attire (jackets / vests / pants / caps)\, to help keep warm\, especially if the temperatures are cool – and if our heaters don’t work well.\n(The group picture could look rather interesting…)\nWe’ll drive country roads in Kane and Kendall counties (about 40 miles)\, before arriving at the Edith Farnsworth House for a 2:00 tour of residential glass pavilion designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe\, a pioneer of modern architecture\, a notable architectural gem. \nThe total time of the tour will be about 90 minutes.\nA block of tickets\, set aside for us\, for  the 2:00 tour of the Farnsworth House is on their website per the below link:\nFarnsworth House Tour Tickets\nThe admission charge is $30 per person\, plus a $1.80 online charge. Tickets need to be bought in advance\, online. After April 20th\, unsold tickets in the ticket block will be released. (It still could be possible to buy them through the website.)\nWe will arrive in the car park which is close to the Visitors Center. Golf carts are available for transport from the Visitor Center to the House (½ mile). Advance notice is needed for this.\nSee the the Farnsworth House website for more information on the House and the grounds.\nSafety Fast\nP.S. DESCRIPTION:“A-Hunting We Will Go!” (MG’s\, that is!) \nCMGC & VMGCC members are encouraged to drive our LBC’s on a fall afternoon for a couple of hours on country roads near the lower Fox River. \nBefore we start “hunting”\, feel free to have lunch at noon at Gray’s Mill Estate in Montgomery\, and spend some time looking around this former mill that has been converted into a restaurant and bar. If the weather is decent\, we can eat seated on the deck that overlooks the river. \nNavigators are strongly encouraged. Why not bring a guest – especially a younger one\, so that we can introduce them to the pleasures of vintage British sports cars. \nWe’ll start along the (Fox) River\, and we’ll end up along the (Illinois) River – at the Dockside Bar and Grill in Ottawa. \nOn route well be several historical sites – either for a brief stop along the way\, or for a longer stop afterwards. \nBring a jacket\, and folding chairs\, as we might want to sit outside (weather permitting) at the end of the Hunt. \nLunch at 12 noon at the historic:\nGray’s Mill Estate\n211 N. DESCRIPTION:CMGC and VMGCC members are invited to drive our MGs to downtown Lombard \n\n Participate in this Cruise Night display of cars – and to enjoy the music of Soul Sacrifice\, a Santana tribute band.  \nSo that we’ll be able to park together\, we’ll gather at 4:00 p.m. in the Fifth Third Bank parking lot\, which can be entered from Lincoln St. (two blocks west of Main St.) on the south side of St. Charles Rd. Once parked\, sign the waiver form\, receive your dash plaque\, and either tailgate or stroll through the downtown business district to see the other cars and to support the nearby establishments that sell food and drink.  \nBRING A LAWN CHAIR!
