Spring Tune-Up Party
at Quality Tire and Auto - Willowbrook, Illinois
Saturday, April 30, 2011
Busy, busy, BUSY!!! Four lifts up and down for four hours straight, and we still didn't get all the cars finished.
This was the 26th tune-up that Mark Leuck hosted. It started out Ogden Avenue for the Vintage MG Car Club of Chicago and later, while located in Darien our club joined the event. This year we had about 30 people and 21 MG's on the lifts. Unexpected visitors included Gene Cooper from Minneapolis and a local police officer who had a Midget under restoration at home. He was probably on his way to the Dunkin Donuts next to Quality Tires when he spotted the event going on. With his police cruiser parked right in front of the shop, he spend at least three times a regular coffee break talking to our Midget owners, shooting pictures and telling stories about his own project. Hopefully he'll be there as a club member next year.
After the technical work was completed at least 20 people went over to Roundhead's, our Natter 'n' Noggin South home, for food, beer, and more car stories. Mark stopped by to tell about his TD and his time as an active member of the Vintage group. Everybody seem to like the new version of the dash plaque, which I will highlight in my column Directions in the next issue of the Driveline.

Who called the cop? Must think it's a chop shop? Turns out he owns a Midget he's trying to fix up, hung around half an hour taking pictures. We gave him a club brochure, might be a new member soon. |
