Slot Racing - MG Style
January 11, 2004 - 3:00 to 5:00 pm
Oakridge Hobbies - 1510F W. 75th St, Downers Grove
In a shopping center across the parking lot from Barnes & Noble bookstore, nestled between JoAnn Fabrics and Harlem Furniture.
Join us for some informal slot racing. Finally the 1/32 scale home slot tracks have evolved in some real quality products and believe it or not, they have some fabulous cars including, yes! MGs! Earlier this year, Scalextric, the leader in home slot car sets of this scale, came out with the MG Lolas that are so popular in Le Mans and ALMS racing. They made two beautiful and very fast models of the number 33 factory entry of 2001 along with the Nighthawk car. By now we should also have two more on the hobby shop shelves with the Banana Joes MG Lola and the 2003 ALMS 675 champion Dyson number 20 car. Not to mention all the Mini Coopers, Formula Ones, Jaguars, Porsches, Cobras, Corvettes, Mustang and Camaro Trans Am cars. Even Lotus Super 7s or Caterhams and big Healey 3000s.
Oakridge Hobbies has agreed to let us bring our cars and have some fun and even use their electronic scoring and timing equipment on their 4 lane 75 feet of Scalextric Sport track. After all the fun, which ends about 5 or so, we’ll find a suitable spot to lick our wounds as usual. Hope you can join us.
In the meantime stop in to Oakridge and see the track and maybe even by a set. Or a car. You too could get hooked on this. Check out their website at:
