Greetings everyone!
It is April and the driving is great! Well, almost anyway. By the end of this month we will have had our first two club driving events.
Work on FLOBEAR is finished for this year(?). The cockpit rail is finally installed. I wasted about three hours trying to fit the nut on a broken stud. I was not pleased. Now that all the carpet is installed in the interior, the car runs noticeably more quietly. The car is running better than it has since I purchased it. Hopefully, it will continue to be as reliable as the past three driving seasons!
Kim Tonry and I have run the Missouri Endurance Rally along with teams from around the Midwest. As I write this, I have no idea how we did, but I am certain we had a great time doing it.
Wade has the first Autocross scheduled for April 23rd at the Warrenville Cinemas. Amy and Russ Mehaffey are doing the Spring Chicken Tour. Don't forget to come to the Spring Tune Up on May 7th. We will have lunch at the nearby Kerry Piper Pub after.
Plans are coming together for the September, Wine, Cheese, and Beer tour. I am waiting for hotel booking confirmation now. I heard from Dan Herman, who is setting up the August tour in Jo-Davies County. He is also making good progress. This promises to be a really fun driving season. Hope you can join us often.
We had a final tech session to finish the Team Mullis project on March 25. We also had other members working on their HIF and HS carbs.
It is now just three months until we leave for MG2006. The first emails have gone out. We have the rail tour set up and 25 riders so far. I have a few spots left so if you missed the deposit deadline, I will still be able to get you tickets. We have 20 cars going to MG2006 on my email list. Most of our group will be traveling down on two days traveling amix of interstate and scenic highways. We have enough people going we to break up into smaller groups. Any one who wants to take more or less time going down can probably join one of the groups. I will provide directions to everyone and we will be using two way radios and cell phones to stay in touch. I have learned the limitations of cell phones over the last few years. If you have radios, let me know as we will need quite a few of them.
I am really enjoying the slow arrival of Spring. The days are warming nicely and our first driving events are getting close. I admit most of my drives now are top up, but the top down days are getting closer. Missouri will probably offer some warm weather so we can drive with the wind in our hair. Enjoy your cars!
See you on the road! - John - flobearsmgcomcast.net
