BRITISH CAR UNION
NEW LOCATION FOR THE SEPTEMBER 9 FESTIVAL
As reported at the last BCU meeting, the September 9, 2001 British Car Festival will be held at MORAINE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE, in Palos Hills, Illinois. The move to a larger facility was prompted not only by the requirements for increased show car space but also the need for more spectator parking. Additionally the parking lot rental/security manpower costs at the previous site were increasing yearly and the no rental charges at Moraine Valley were attractive.
For those not familiar with Moraine Valley Community College, the Campus is located in the Southwest part of the Chicago area, easy to reach off I-294 at 95th Street exit, West to 88th Avenue and South to 107th Street. Or, South on I-83 from the Stevenson Expressway (I-55), to 107th Street and go East to the Campus. The BCU web page www.qth.com/bcu has been updated and includes a link to Moraine Valley web site plus maps to assist your travel plans.
Several new venues are planned, including a series of technical seminars during the day in the class rooms offered by Moraine Valley. Contact your Club’s BCU Representative if you want to offer your expertise on a British Car Subject or know someone wanting to pass on their great knowledge on the subject.
The Campus location is nearby many lakes and touring roads; perfect for the Saturday Rally always conducted by the Midwest Chapter of the Austin-Healey Club of America. As in past years, the rally will end up at a restaurant for a BCU hosted social reception. The restaurant will be taking reservations for those wishing to stay for dinner.
Also displayed was the new 3 inch diameter BCU cast bronze grill badge to be given to each pre-registered entry to the 2001 Festival. The badge is in recognition of the 15th BCU Festival. Besides the regular BCU T-shirt available to pre-registered entries, an upscale BCU polo shirt with logo (un-dated) will also be available for purchase.
Once again, all the new details are on the BCU web page and will be updated on a regular basis. A registration form is on the web page for ease of making your plans. Plus everyone who attended the 2000 Festival will receive a 2001 registration form in the mail.
