Meeting Minutes
Monday, April 21, 2008
Attendance: 39 members
The meeting was called to order at 8:10 pm by Co-chairman, Jim Evans. .
Current Car Projects – Russ Mehaffey announced that he finally is just about complete in replacing the rear seal on his MGA. He is looking forward to getting on the road in a week or so. David Peterson finished replacing the wheel bearings and performed minor brake work just in time for the nice weather.
Past Events - Dave Bralich successfully performed an engine swap with the help a few able club members in his ‘shop’. This was a two-day event.
Upcoming Events - With the hint of better weather coming, a number of events are scheduled. To start off, a Spring Tune-up will be held this year on Saturday April 26th. The Spring Chicken Tour around Lake Geneva will be held on Sunday, May 18th. The Austin-Healey Club is hosting an Autocross on June 6th and Wade Keene is hosting the Land’s End Rally on June 8th. See additional details in the Driveline or on the Website.
Newsletter – article later in this Driveline
Club Directory – It has been a number of years since a Club Directory listing current club members has been produced. The goal is to have this Directory sent to club members with the May Driveline.
Project Car – Last minute cosmetic touches are being performed on the car in anticipation of its sale. All systems have been checked and a final road test is in the works. This beauty is ready for the road!
Slide show – Last month Jim Evans participated as a spectator in the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance in Florida. This was his topic in the April Driveline. As promised, he brought with him to the meeting a number of slides of the prestige cars that were on display. The slide show was presented during the meeting break.
Tech Session – Dave Bralich brought with him a number of new and used oil filters. All were opened up to see the internal construction and to determine how effective they were in protecting the internal engine parts. It was interesting to note that the more expensive filter may not be the best constructed or most efficient.
50/50 Raffle – Chris Shepard split the pot with the club and won a $15 cash award.
Meeting adjourned at 8:55 pm
- Victor L’Heureux
