2008 Spring Chicken Tour

Maybe a Saturn or two will also show up...
It looks like we will be having a very good turn out this year. So far we have 10 cars from the CMGC and 10 or so cars from the Vintage MG Car Club. This will put on quite a show for the neighborhood!
We will run it just like last year; we’ll start the tour by meeting at Bill’s cottage in Lake Geneva at 10:30 AM, Sunday May 17th. Then we head out west around Lake Delevan at 11:00 AM then up through one of the lower sections of the Kettle Moraine Valley. Our route this year will be through some small (actually very small town sections of historic Delevan), through rolling farm fields and winding around through the Whitewater Lake area of the Kettle Moraine; the speed limits vary from 25-55 MPH (the vast majority is 25-35).
After the driving tour (about 12:30 or so) we will meet back at Bill’s for a grilled chicken extravaganza and food spread. I will be providing a full lunch including the sandwiches, side dishes, desert and drinks (pop and water). I will NOT be providing alcoholic beverages due to it being a club event (feel free to bring your own if you would like, there will be plenty of ice, and storage is available). There will be a small cost per person ($7.00) to help cover the expenses.
The fire will be lit just in case (but I have it on very good authority that the weather will be great). It will be a great atmosphere for being together with our cars and our friends, maybe meet some new friends, swap some stories.
Last year we had 15 cars join us on the tour. This year we have exceeded that let’s keep adding. Come out and join us and get up close and personal with those beautiful T-series MG’s.
Since food is involved, I really need to have a confirmation for the number of people that will be joining us. Please email Bill Reece to confirm. After confirmation I will email back directions to my place in Lake Geneva. I have three (3) different routes included (Interstate, Route 12 or for the far west ‘burbs, Route 47).

Secrets of Jo Daviess County Tour
June 13 and 14, 2009
It’s all about the driving. In the fourth annual running of the Secrets of Jo Daviess County tour June 13 and 14, 2009 the emphasis will be on driving great MG roads - MG tailored byways abound. OK, we’ll be sipping a little wine and beer, gathering some genuine Wisconsin cheese and sampling an unusual form of transportation, too. The name remains the same, but the tour will include more than Illinois’ Jo Daviess county. We’ll be doing a lot of exploring in southwest Wisconsin and northeast Iowa. (There’s actually hills in Iowa!)
For the early birds we’ll again have the Friday afternoon reception at our home overlooking Lake Carroll, followed by the popular fish fry at the Yellow Creek Inn. Saturday we launch from the Country Inn at Stockton, stop at the Massbach Ridge Winery, lunch at the home of members Steve and Jan Selan at Galena Territory, tour the newly restored Potosi Brewery, cross the mighty Mississippi on the ferry at Cassville to dinner and overnight in historic Guttenberg, Iowa on the Mississippi waterfront, lock and dam. Dinner will be presented in restaurant situated directly adjacent to the lock and dam and if we time it right a barge set and push boat will pass right by the windows while traversing the lock. Sunday we take a quick run up the Iowa side to cross at Prairie du Chein. Back in Wisconsin we’ll emphasize driving that includes several of the “Wisconsin Rustic Roads” segments that were a hit last year.
