Finally, we conclude the organized tour with the neo-traditional stop at Baumgartners Cheese Store in Monroe.
Accommodations: For Friday night we have a block of 15 rooms at the Country Inn and Suites in Stockton. Non-smoking King and double Queen rooms are available at $100. (Hotel prices are up again this year.) Phone 815 947 6060. Ask for the MG Club block. If you are interested in a lower cost room at a nice hotel 20 miles east of Stockton we have a block of 10 rooms at the Baymont Inn Freeport under the tag of MG Club. All rooms are 2 full size bed type at a rate of $80.00. Phone 815 599 8510.
For Saturday night the primary hotel, The Landing, is sold out. You can always check to see if any cancellations have opened up a room. The phone number is 563 252 1615.. The alternate hotel is a couple miles up the road on a bluff overlooking the river. It’s an older, standard strip motel, truly a mom and pop operation. The rooms are plain and basic and I can assure you the place is clean. The major attraction here is that all the rooms are on a deck that faces an elevated panoramic view of the river basin. I would expect the sunrise to be spectacular. Rates are $44 to $57. It’s the Eagles View at phone 563 252 1653.
If you plan to attend please notify me by e-mail, danherm@jcwifi.com or phone, 815 238 7356 so I can include you on my information update list and better plan hotels and restaurants.
We hope you can join us for an MG friendly weekend. The fun of the curvy road driving, exploring unusual attractions, and enjoying good food and drink is made even better by the companionship of the great members of the CMGC.

We are going west this year to the NAMGBR convention! MG 2009 is in Breckenridge, CO. The convention dates are June 24 – 28. It is time to start planning your trip. Four couples have booked their hotels all ready. Our tentative departure date is June 21 and return around July 1. We will be caravanning again this year and we would like to have you join us.
The event web site is www.mg2009.com. The registration form is there to download. You do not have to be NAMGBR members to participate so all MG’s are welcome. Early registration ends on April 15th. You can register after that but at an additional charge.
See you on the road!

Land’s End Rally
July 11, 2009 - 9:00 AM
This event will start in the far western suburbs, just west of the Fox River, somewhere between Elgin and North Aurora (exact location to be determined). Ending point will be at or very near the starting point, with a suitable location to leave a car parked for the day if needed. If you don't have a navigator, feel free to come and join up with someone at the start point. If we have an "odd man out" he (or she) might join the rallymaster to see how a rally runs from the other side of the fence.
Expect a nice long drive in the country on some interesting roads (figure close to 200 miles), avoiding cities as much as possible and visiting a few small towns as we go. For those who choose to be competitive there will be some questions to answer along the way to facilitate scoring. There will be a mid-rally rest stop with a get together to collect everyone and start again. I don't expect to barbeque in the park, but there will be food and refreshments and personal facilities available at the programmed break as well as various locations along or near to the rally route. We will finish at a nice restaurant around 6:00 PM for a little natter 'n' noggin, scores and awards.
