Bring your tent and sleeping bags and enjoy a weekend of watching some of the most famous racing cars from the past fifty-odd years! A group of club members has reserved several adjoining campsites less than a mile from the track at Plymouth Rock Camping Resort. There are several vacancies that can be filled by club members. For more information contact Ann or Jake for details at 847-295-2753 or snyder@chicagolandmgclub.com.
Friday supper has been a blue-gill fry at a local restaurant, followed by a walk through Elkhart Lake for an ice-cream cone or just to look at the many vintage cars driven to the weekend event. There is a parade of racing cars that travels from the track to the Friday night concours in Elkhart Lake. It is a wonderful sight that can be viewed along the road in Elkhart Lake.
Saturday night the campers gather to grill and eat together. Then we go back to Elkhart Lake to view the Concours d’Elegance. Elkhart Lake is the home of Siebken’s of Burt Levy’s The Last Open Road fame, and it is worth the wait at the bar to have beer or pop in such a place.
Sunday is the final racing day. There are the races for the big car classes and for the small-bore cars, some driven by CMGC members. The cars would be fit for any museum, and to see them driven as their designers planned is a very special sight.
