The Steering Column
In reference to the timely publication of Driveline, someone we all know recently stated, “Shame on us if we don’t”. Well, we didn’t, as printing was being held up awaiting The Steering Column article. So first we apologize for missing timely announcements of events prior to mid July, particularly the Miata MG Invitational autocross. This event was noted on the club web site, for those of us fortunate enough to have access and who may have actually looked there, but it should also have had the opportunity to be printed on time in Driveline. After another particularly embarrasing telephone call, the editor has been authorized to write this short essay over the noble co-chair’s signature. Feel free to bring this topic up at the next club meeting. [T.J. has vowed to wear his asbestos flame suit.]
And to the next related item, it is hereby resolved and declared by executive order that the deadline date for submission of articles for publication in Driveline shall be one week after the monthly club meeting. This is intended to allow the publication and mailing of Driveline on or very shortly after the 1st of the month. It is important to stick to a regular publication date so we can know how far in advance events must be publicized. So now we are all aware that the axe falls at midnight, one week after the meeting if the material is not in the hands of the editor. And by this example it is dually noted how the responsible party (or parties) may be severely chastized in public for a default.
