Lands End Rallye - June 8, 2003

Most of you really blew it! You must feel awful knowing that you missed the best rally of the year. I am not the biggest fan of the Land’s End Rallye, but this year’s edition made up for any and all perceived shortcomings in any of the Josefek rallies past. Even “Mother Goose.” The pictograms were not gone, but they only took you to your first checkpoint. From there on you had no route instructions at all, just little black dots marking intersections on seven pages of maps. Each dot represented a clue in a crossword puzzle. What a great format!! Knowing that the answer had to be four letters long and end in “e” eliminated a lot of the possibilities. Not that all of the answers were easy; I hate to admit that I approached one intersection from all four directions and was starting around again looking for a seven-letter word with an “s” in the third space that was “not allowed” when Michaela finally read the No Passing Zone sign fifty feet down the road.
