Hi, all! This has been a great month for MG owners! Our club was featured at the Aurora Alive! Cruise night on August 5. We had 17 British cars on the street and 1 wanabee (a Porsche). We were entertained with vintage Beatles music by the featured band, American English. It was a comfortable evening and a good time was had by all.

Ann and I went to Grand Rapids for the University Motors Summer Party. We caravanned over with Mike and Ellen Hirsch. It was a pleasant trip, not to hot, and no rain. We had dinner that evening with Curt Bork, Reinout and Henneke Vogt at the Grand Rapids Brewing Company. Curt and Reinout had driven the Grand Lake tour in Curt's TD. We were amazed they could still were awake enough to make it through dinner. There were about three hundred fifty cars on the show field. Reinout and Henneke's 1931 M was the oldest car there. There was even a beautiful, self assembled RV8. B GT's were the featured car this year and there were many fine examples at the show. Our club was well represented at the show. We left before the awards banquet as I had plans to run our club's rally Sunday.

Sunday was a beautiful day for a rally. The sun was shining and the temperature was comfortable. Larry Czachor and Heidi Horst put together a great event. We met at the Bedford Park Library on Archer Ave and navigated our way through forest preserves and suburbs southwest and west of the city before ending for lunch in Hinsdale. Bob Simon was my navigator and we really enjoyed ourselves. (Editor's Note: We won third place and a rubber chicken!).

Our September rally will be with the Austin Healey Club on September 10th. We will meet at the Kmart parking lot on the Northeast corner of Route 83 and Plainfield road. There is a link on our website for directions. The first car off is at 1:00PM and the rally ends at Hackney's restaurant at 123rd and LaGrange Road in Palos Park. The entry fee is $15 for this event.

The 19th Annual British Car Festival is September 11th at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills. Cowboy still needs volunteers for traffic control. It is a great way to spend the day viewing all Marques of British cars and the Austin Healy club's rally will be for club points this year.

The Wine, Cheese and Beer tour is a two day event on September 17 and 18. There is more information in this issue and on the web site.

There is a rally on September 25th at the Warrenville Cinema site.

There are still a lot of driving opportunities and events left this year. Our cars were meant to be driven and the events are great fun. I must admit I always hate to head home after one of our outings.

See you on the road!
