11/20/00 MEETING REPORT
Meeting was called to order at 8:10 p.m. by Tom Josefek, Sharon Anderson, Steve Selan and Diana Gonzales along with 40 members being present. Also present for the meeting was Carl Barnes, a guest and brother of Calvin Barnes. The meeting was marked by the first snowfall of the year, with only two members coming in their MG’s.
OLD BUSINESS
NAMGBR Meeting: 10/28/00 - Jake Snyder advised the membership that five members of the club attended the general business meeting of the North American MGB Register that was held at the Ramada O’Hare on Mannheim Road in Rosemont, Illinois. The meeting was well attended by representatives from the various clubs. Membership now stands at near 2,000. Following the general business meeting, various tours of the Chicagoland area as well as festive dinners were held.
Halloween Rally: 10/29/00 - Mike Olsen reported that it was a cloudy day, with 18 cars present for a 2½ hour rally. Only one breakdown, our condolences to cowboy, who eventually got the car running once he replaced the rotor cap. The rally was won by David Lieb, who ran the rally with a broken leaf spring and the top down. He reported that multiple sheets of route instructions were handed out at the beginning of the rally with each sheet directing you to a different cemetery. Second place was awarded to Mr. Bill, and third went to Don Anderson.
Technical Session: David Bralich advised the membership that on November 4, 2000, a head gasket replacement tech session was held at the garage of David Bralich. Seven members of the club were instructed on the fine points of replacement of a head gasket. This was another successful tech session in our ongoing instructional series. Additional tech sessions will be announced by Dave.
Fall Tune Down Party: 11/12/00 - Jim Evans opened up his garage facility at Merlin’s Muffler for use of the club to help winterize their cars. Nine members took advantage of this opportunity and are now ready for the ravages of winter. We encourage all members to check their antifreeze and batteries before putting the cars away for the winter. We all look forward to the tune up party next year.

Any ballot being received after that date will not be counted, no exceptions, not even for people from Florida! This will be a one-time manual count only! Good luck to all candidates.
Cruise to the Rock: 11/23/00 - Don Anderson announced that the club members will again meet at the commemorative rock in back of the Museum of Science and Industry to celebrate the anniversary of the first automobile race in the United States which was run from Hyde Park to Evanston, Illinois. Christmas Party: 12/02/00 - Patsby’s in Chicago Ridge, Illinois, cocktails at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 8:00 p.m. $20.00 per person, and cash bar. We have a private room, and a DJ has been hired. Mark you calendars now. As in the past, anyone wishing to bring a grab bag gift with a value of $15.00 or less, is free to do so. The club will be providing some gifts, but there will not be enough for everyone, so please bring something if you can. The last day for reservations to be received by Sharon Anderson is November 27, 2000.
Charitable Donation: By unanimous vote of the membership, it was decided that the club would make a $500.00 holiday donation to the Mercy Home for Children. This is a worthy cause to which we have been donating for the last several years. The majority of the funds come from the 50/50 raffle proceeds with the club making up any deficiency.
Awards Banquet: Tentatively scheduled for March 4, 2001 at Superosa in Woodridge, Illinois.
Swap Meet: February 25, 2001 - DuPage County Fairgrounds, Jim Evans will be running the event and is looking for volunteers. Be prepared to sign up at the next meeting. This is a major fund raiser, and we need your help.
Abingdon 2001: Tentatively scheduled for the second week in August in the attempt to avoid a conflict with the Quad Cities British Carfest. However, that date is subject to change depending on room availability at Jumers. Reinout Vogt and Jim Evans will be coordinating the event. More information to follow.
50/50 Drawing: Won by Ray Bonz.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
