New Directions
Monthly Column of Driving Events
Happy New Year to all and a Very Happy Driving New Year to all who plan to participate in the 2016 Driving Events of the MG Clubs of Chicago.
Hopefully you liked what we presented in 2015 and your New Year’s resolution is to participate in even more events this year. Or, if you haven’t been out much last year, your resolution is to fix that minor problem. All it takes is some planning and commitment. There are several members who can assist you with that; take a look at the list of annual driving events awards (hopefully our newsletter editors have space to print it). They are the people who did make it to many events, they are the people who planned their calendars to include our dates, they are the people who had their MG ready and reliable, they are the people who scored well in the rallies and autocrosses, and they are the people who enjoyed participating with their MGs. And that last one is the most important; enjoy driving your MG with other members and other MG’s. If you are still in doubt, do yourself a favor and read through the driving events reports in last year’s newsletters. You’ll find that all these reports have one thing in common; driving your MG and having a great time doing it.
We’ll start planning the 2016 driving events calendar soon and if you have any suggestions or ideas, please let us know. Also, there are always opportunities to contribute to the MG Clubs of Chicago and help running an event. If you find it a little bit overwhelming to take the lead and put on a whole event by yourself, you can always join of the existing organizers to see what being the rally or tour master is all about.

And while we’re talking about contributing to the MG Clubs of Chicago. As I said in previous columns, it is time for someone to take over the Driving Event Coordinator job because I’m planning to stop sometime in 2016. Please let me know if you are interested.
As always, you can reach me at 847 342 9804 or reinoutvogt@gmail.com. I’d like to hear your suggestions, improvements, ideas, concerns, or comments for the 2016 driving events. And I’d also be happy to talk about the driving events coordinator job vacancy, in case you’re looking for some more details.
