New Directions
Monthly Column of Driving Events
It’s February and we should be planning the Driving Events for this season. But I have to apologize; I’m a late start this year. And instead of getting it started yesterday, Saturday, January 21, Jeff Powell and I went to South Bend to participate in the Amtrak Tour visit to the Studebaker Museum. See the photos in this issue. And the next two weeks we’re going on a little road trip to Austin, TX, Memphis, TN, and Nashville, TN, which is going to delay my start even more.
But there’s hope! Between my return from the road trip and our Annual Business Meeting on Monday, February 20, there is enough time to get the preliminary calendar organized. And a little bit of help from your side would even make it easier.
How would that work, you’re asking? Well, I suggest that you take the 2016 calendar and go over each event.

Did you participate? Did you like it? Do you expect the event to return on the calendar this year? If the answer is what I expect, there are a few opportunities for you. You help the 2016 organizers, assuming that they are doing the event again this year?

You may think about organizing the event in case the 2016 organizer is not able anymore? You jump in to fill a little gap in the calendar with a new event, like we saw the adhoc Fall Tour in 2016? (thanks again Rich and Sundy)

You see? It not so hard to be part of the 2017 Driving Events. And if we do it together, we’ll have a preliminary calendar ready for the February meeting and another fantastic 2017 Driving Season starting with the Spring Tune-up in Late April/Early May and running all the way to the Cruse to the Rock on Thanksgiving Day.
I look forward to hearing from you at 847 342 9804 or reinoutvogt@gmail.com.
