This month in the autocross world. I had a nice conversation with Gary Springer of the Austin Healey Club about their Gymkhana. It’s not looking good for the Healey Gymkhana this year. Last year their event got canceled because they lost their venue. So far they have not been able to secure a new location. I offered to open up any autocross our club puts together, to the Healey club as well. Tim Schaffer has been trying to find a location where our club could run some small autocross/gymkhana but has also run into obstacles. If you have a possible location let either Tim or I know. The Windy City Miata Club has posted their 2018 schedule. Jamie and I have picked 4 dates for MG participation.

June 9th, July 14th, August 4th and September 1st. These are all day events at the Boomers stadium parking lot in Schaumberg. I hope to see several of you out there this season. If we have 5 or more MGs we get our own “Class”. I’ll write more about this as time gets closer.

I’ve coerced Bill Kalafut, Tim Schafer and Bob Dorley into helping with the Funkhana at the GOF this June. I’ve had a short chat withRay Costa and he’s thrilled to have the CMCG helping out. We may need a few more hands when we get there to set up and run the event. So don’t be surprised if I tap you on the shoulder and ask/beg for your help. I also want everyone to come out and try the Funkhana. I don’t yet know what exactly the challenges will be. But, we’ll try to make fun. Given the size of the area we have it won’t be a full-on autocross. In fact I’m doubting we’ll even get out of first gear. And I’m expecting mature cars like Emma to participate. So, it will likely be things like ring tosses, bean bag throws and parking challenges. But the exact series of events is yet to be determined. If you’ve got some ideas let one of us know.
