Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline March 2019

books Library Muse

I finally got it done. If I say I’m going to do something I’ll do it. I don’t need to be nagged every six months. By now you should have received an e-mail containing a listing of the club’s current library inventory, listed alphabetically by title. It can be changed over to alphabetic by author. If one wants to make a printed version I would suggest formatting it in landscape and both columns will appear together, using seven pages. Download a copy to your computer for future reference.

Euro DVDs will play on a computer, but probably not on a standard DVD player. Edition year of SB (softbound) and HB (hardbound) books are also shown if known. VHS? Well, you’re on your own finding a player. And yes, there is one audio CD.

With 207 titles listed, not counting a dozen or so that are AWOL/MIA and 5 or 6 VHS tapes of unknown content, there is too much for me to bring to the meetings. Even the bin full that I have been bringing of late is getting too heavy for me to drag across Mack’s parking lot and up and down stairs. I will now be bringing only what will fit into a shopping bag in the foot well or boot of my MG. So check your copy of the inventory and if there is something you would like, let me known via e-mail or telephone (do NOT text) a day or two before the meeting and I’ll bring it.

His life and the History of Post-War American Road Racing
Michael Argetsinger, 2006, 389 pgs., hard bound

That long sub-title tells it all. From Healeys and MGTDs to Maserati's and Ferraris, he is probably best known for racing Jaguars of various ilk. And twice driving a MG Liquid Suspension Special in the Indy 500. He started racing in 1951 and died after an accident practicing for LeMans in a Ford GT in 1966 at age 46. Included in this volume is a chronological race record, listing of cars raced, tracks, and stats.
