This month in the autocross world. IT’s PREP TIME. Time to get your car ready for the driving season. April will see our club Spring Tune-Up. This is a good time to get under your car and check for leaks and other issues. It’s only a few short weeks later and we’ll be racing! The Miata club has posted their 2018 schedule. Jamie and I have picked 4 dates for MG participation. If you were at the swap meet and picked up one of the calendars from the Miata Club our dates were indicated. June 9th, July 14th, August 4th and September 1st. These are all day events at the Boomers stadium parking lot in Schaumberg. I want to see several of you out there this season. If we have 5 or more MG’s we get our own “Class”. What this means is all the MG’s are grouped in the same awards group. If we have less than 5 we end up competing with more modern cars. And they kick my fanny! Last year I got beat by a teen age girl in a SUV!

As you know, The CGMC has taken on the Funkhana at the GOF. A small team will be organizing this event. But I EXPECT, demand, ok beg that all CGMC members that are going to the GOF come out and support our club efforts. You can help set up, take down, marshal cars, help score runs and of course run your car in the Funkhana. Maybe it’ll wet your appetite for sporty driving!

We are looking for large parking lots. We would like to try to run our own CGMC autocross sometime in the future. This is not because of any issues with the Miata club, it’s just several folks have indicated they would be more interested if they didn’t have to commit to the full day. These same folks had better be willing to step up and help organize such an event as well! From what I’ve seen these events are a lot of work and I’m not going to do it alone!
