Caveat Emptor. At last year’s swap meet I found a pretty nice, chrome rear bumper marked for an MGB. As far as I know, all the bumpers are the same, except for the 1970 split rear. I wasn’t looking for a bumper, but it was nicer than the one that was on the B at the time. So for fifty bucks, what the heck. I make the purchase and took it home. But being the procrastinator that I am, I didn’t get around to installing it on the car but instead put it in the garage ceiling roof rafters. Then promptly forget about it. It’s not that I have a bad memory, it’s just short.

At this year’s swap meet I finally remember the bumper that I had purchased the previous year. The upcoming tune-up party would be a good time to finally get the installation done, without having to lay on my back in the driveway, holding the bumper in one hand and wrenches in the other. I get the bumper down from the rafters but something doesn’t look right. Holding it up next to the existing one on the car, it’s about six inches too short. And the ends are shaped differently. What the heck, this is for a Spridget, not a B. Caveat Emptor. Let the buyer beware.

Anyone looking for a nice Midget bumper?

MG Sports Cars
By John Heilig, 1996, softbound, 95 pgs.

This book is mostly beautiful photography, with little text. Covers the ‘T’ series thru MGFs. It should take the average MG fan about a quarter hour to read. A little longer for a Triumph owner wishing to upgrade. Jaguar people needn’t bother, they already know it all. (Just kidding, we love all LBCs and British car people.) Donated by Doug Clark.

Battle of the ‘Bs
Neville Mariner, 1989, VHS, 35 mins.

Battle of the ‘Bs, plural as in MGBs, not two words as in B.S. I can’t review this at this time, no VHS player. The club previously had a copy but it got lost over the years. Donated by Jim Compton.
