Land’s End Trial Rally
June 9, 2013
The Land’s End Rally is the second oldest, continuing event on the club calendar. Initially configured to mimic the Land’s End Trial of England, it morphed over the years into a variety of forms as suited the times at hand; this year, we will return to the spirit of that original Land’s End Rally.
Beautiful scenery with plenty of bends for those who like it curvy, long rural stretches for those that want to open 'er up, and enough ups and dips for the roller coaster lovers. Are you one of them? It's not too late to join in - check the CMGC site for June 9th and let me know!
Our starting point will be in the Arboretum Shopping Center at the northeast corner of IL Route 59 and Route 72 (Higgins Rd). Please find us in the area of Caribou Coffee for a Drivers meeting at 9:30 AM (departure about 10 AM). There is a clock tower in the middle of this center, with Caribou Coffee located east of the clock tower. Main entrances from Rte. 59 and Rte. 72 lead directly to the clock tower. Look for the MGs!
The ending point for the Rally is at Doyle's Pub in Richmond, IL. We are expecting upwards of 38+ people and will have the upstairs dining room available for our group. In order to accommodate the group and expedite food orders,
Doyle's requests we order from a 'short' menu. We do not need to pre-order, just be prepared to select from the following choices; drinks additional and there will be separate checks.
Rueben w/ fries - $9.99
Build your own 1/2 lb. burger w/fries & coleslaw- $7.99
Chicken Caesar salad w/ breadstick- $10.99

Let us know if you have any questions. See you on the 9th!

NAMGAR
June 10-14, 2013
Well, it’s finally here; the time to talk about GT-38. Folks have been getting excited since the announcement in Dayton. We are indeed heading to Asheville, North Carolina. Asheville is a vibrant city with activities galore from art, shops, restaurants, hand-craft breweries, great roads for driving, and an atmosphere of welcome for everyone. Come and enjoy the crisp mountain air!
The GT committee has some great “On Your Own Drives” that include driving some portions of the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are four entry points in the Asheville area so that whether you head north or south you’ll find yourself taking in some breathtaking scenery as you enjoy the winding curves of the road! That, to me, sounds like prime MG fun! One of the drives includes the famous "Diamondback sports car route" with 190 curves in the 12 mile climb to the Parkway.
For a better tentative schedule and to find the latest information on all things concerning GT-38, visit the GT38 website (http://www.gt38-namgar.org/).
