Monthly Meeting Minutes
June 19, 2019

Victor Lheureux 37 Members in attendance

CMGC Vice-President Phil Wydra opened the meeting at 7:01 pm. Phil noted the Gaylords – Barney, Elliott and Honey - were in attendance today.

  Staff Reports
Library - Bill Mennell noted there are a few new additions to the library, all items are VHS formats. History of Motor Racing 1920-1929; History of Motor Racing 1930-1934; History of Motor Racing 1935-1939; and Great Marques-MG. All items will be described in the next Driveline.
Membership – Victor L’Heureux noted that we currently have 222 paid members with 29 members still delinquent.
Finance – no report

Car Projects
MGA – Club Project Car
– Exhaust system has been removed, brakes have been refurbished, and the engine removed. Awaiting ordered parts to continue work.
John Kearns noted he was having ignition problems. Wires to the ignition switch were burned and problems seem to worsen with the radio turned on. Dino offered a solution to test and rectify the problem.
Kevin Carlson is currently working on the car brake master cylinder repair.
Steve Sparks is having continued running problems. Barney offer to help diagnose the problem.
Phil Wydra took his 74 MGB to MG Unlimited to install overdrive transmission. While there, the engine was tested and found to have very worn bearings. These were replaced and Phil is now a happy camper with an overdrive car.

   




Driving Events
Past Driving/Social Event Schedule (additional details of these events are in the July Driveline issue)
    May 16-19 - MGs on the Oregon Trail. 34 members took part, 23 in MGs and 7 in other vehicles. Rain was spotty but the fun was great!
    June 1 – Lagrange Pet Parade. 12 members either drove their vehicles or walked the parade route. 7 MGs were in the parade.
    June 15 – Highland Games and Car Show. Great turnout for the CMGC with 3rd place awarded to Tim Schafer and his 1979 pageant blue Midget.
    June 15 – Blackhawk Farms Raceway – 200+ vintage cars were on-site. Dave Bralich finished 11th in a field of 32 vintage cars. Good job, Dave!
Upcoming Driving/Social Event Schedule (additional details of these events are in the July Driveline issue)
    June 23-26 – NAMGBR MG-2019 convention in Traverse, City, MI
    July 14 - Day at the Races - Arlington Racetrack
    July 27 – Autocross II with the Windy City Miata Club
    August 4 - Peds in the Weeds

Break/ 50:50 raffle – CMGC memberSteve Gorr was the winner of $17 – (Steve took $15 and gave the club $2)

New Business
None presented

  With no further business to discuss, Phil closed the meeting at 7:51 pm.
