The MG Mid-Summer party was held at the home of Scott Fohrman at 637 Sheridan Square in South Evanston. A large crowd of MG members – both the Vintage MG Club and Chicagoland MG Club were in attendance—enjoyed the barbecue burgers, dogs and sausage while exploring the 100-year-old house which has been undergoing a 10-year restoration.

A few members tested their skill in racing on a 4-lane 18x 8-foot slot racing track that crisscrosses the table 4 times! The track featured huge elevation changes, silly scenery – and with drinking and racing allowed – it will be a fun time. Just less than 1/2 a block from the house is Evanston’s South Ave. beach. The large soft sand beach extends into a long shallow out into Lake Michigan, making the water warmer (usually) and fun for non-swimmer to get wet. Doug Clark took up the challenge and went for a dip.
Most cars found parking alley/driveway on the west side of the house while some found space on Sheridan Square, Sheridan Road and west of Sheridan Road in the quiet surrounding neighborhood. Unfortunately, Scott’s car collection consisting of a 1932 MG J2, a 1958 MG Magnette, a 1965 MGB V8 were not in attendance now. Scott noted that having just come back from the Father’s Day event at Blackhawk Raceway – where he sustained some car injuries – the cars were in for repair.
It was a great weekend to drive the MG cars and take in the views while enjoying time with fellow members.
