The task is almost complete! The gearbox transplant is finished, fluids topped off, and checked for leaks and a road-test confirmed that the operation was a success.
Now to finish the last details – reconnect heater controls, fine-tune the timing and carburetors, and follow-up on the road-trip findings – weak release of new clutch, oil leak below timing cover and sluggish throttle return when shifting. I also need to replace missing exhaust mounting brackets behind the muffler.
Frankly I didn’t think this gearbox replacement was going to take so long – almost 4 weeks. But it has been a learning experience. Thanks to Jim Evans for his support, knowledge and tools!
