Another month has come and gone, and summer is in mid-stride. The best part about this time of year (besides driving) is my back-yard garden. Picking the first zucchini for my wife Kerry to make her signature Zucchini Bread. It's the best this side of the Rocky Mountains.
The only thing better than this is the First Home Grown Tomato! There's nothing that compares to the taste of a Tomato grown in a back-yard garden. You can't buy it in a store. Your favorite restaurant won't have one and you surely can't order one from Amazon or eBay. Nothing can compare to the delicious flavor and texture of a tomato which has been allowed to Fully ripen on the vine until perfection is achieved. I'm sure we've all had a store bought one which was picked green then shipped to the store lacking any sort of flavor to be desired. The only way you can have the ultimate enjoyment of a Tomato grown to perfection is to do it yourself or be lucky enough to have a generous neighbor who's willing to share one of his with you.
So now what will you do with this Tomato of perfection? There's only one thing to do. Make the best BLT known to mankind of course! Making sure you have the best thick sliced smoked bacon available. This in itself is the Day I wait for all year. To consume this culinary delight. So just remember ......
There's only two things money can't buy....and that's Love and Home Grown TOMATOS
See you on the road!

It’s been a very busy driving season so far.
The Lands’ End Rally was loads of fun despite a minor mistake in the directions. We had a good showing of club members at the GOF 2018 at the Lake Lawn resort. Members of the CGMC helped to plan and run the Funkhana. We got lots of positive feedback, despite it being so hot! I want to thank Bob Dorley, Bill Kalafut, Tim Schafer and Dino Perez for their efforts to plan the Funkhana. I also have to thank those members we roped into helping run the Funkhana. Lisa Perez, Dean and Keri Hickenlooper, Jean Heasley, Steve Sparks and Jodi Simons.
While at the GOF I got John Twist to adjust my carbs. My car hasn’t ever run so good.
Scott Fohrman once again opened his home to the club for the 2nd AnnualMid-Summer Party. While I didn’t make that event I heard it was just as fantastic as last year. I also missed out on theGolf Course Tour & 19th Hole Picnic this year. Maybe I’ll make it next year. The weather looked a bit dicey in the morning, but the afternoon was beautiful. Thank you to Doug and Jerry for hosting this event.
We have the 42/52 Anniversary Tour on July 29th. This has been a great tour and the Yacht club has been a get venue. I am looking forward to this year. I like the idea of the start place being the car show in Winnetka. As you all know my car is no concourse car. But I still like to share it with folks. I will often invite a youngster to sit in the driver’s seat while Mom or Dad takes a photo. My hope is to encourage more interest in our MG’s. Somebody will need to pick up the mantel of caring for these wonderful cars to the years to come. August will also be very busy. With Peds in the woods, The Westmont Cruisin night, the Tally Ho rally.
So much more driving and fun coming up. See you there.
