Monthly Column of Driving Events
Be Careful what you wish for!!! That saying is SO TRUE!!! We have been waiting for “SUMMER” the whole month of June…and BAM!!.... Mother Nature heard our calls and she may have OVER DONE IT!!! It’s been a SMOKIN HOT July!!! Hate to see what this month in August brings. We still have many more driving events coming up and it would be nice to be able to enjoy the ride in more comfortable DRY temps!!!
I heard the NAMGBR, which took place Sunday-Wednesday June 23rd – 26th in Traverse City, MI. was a GREAT TIME and a HUGE turn out!!! Melissa Gonzales had a great review in the July issue of Driveline.
The Lands’ End Rally took place on July 6th. There was a TREMENDOUS turnout and once again it was a GREAT time. You can read all the details in this month’s issue.
The Arlington Race Park event that took place on July 14th was a TRIUMPH!! It was a beautiful day out and an incredible turnout for a most memorable day!! There is a review in this month’s issue as well to hear all about the event!!
Jim Compton will have to let us know how many of you participated in the Miata Autocross II which took place on Saturday July 27th. I hope it was a nice turn out and the weather cooperated!!
I can’t wait to hear about the annual Peds in the Weeds event that will take place on August 4th. Kerry Hickenlooper once again organized this very special, heartwarming event. I’m sure we will read all about it in next month’s Driveline.
Thursday, August 15th is right around the corner!! Don’t miss out on the Westmont Crusin’ Night hosted by Bill Kalafut & Jean Heasley. There is still time to call Bill And let him know if you plan to come out and be a part of this entertaining event!! Details are in this month’s newsletter.
The Tally Ho Rally is scheduled for Sunday, August 18th. Once again, Carl Vogel will be hosting this wonderful, challenging Rally!! All the details are in this month’s Driveline and Vintage view Point.
The Miata Autocross III hosted by Jim Compton is now scheduled for August 24th. It was previously on the calendar for August 10th, but has now been changed to the 24th. Jim would LOVE to see you out there, whether you participate or just to cheer them on!!!

It seems like we are SAILING through the driving season – I can’t believe I am talking about September events already.
Sunday, September 8th is the annual British Car Festival. All the details are in this month’s issue. This is a wonderful day to come out, showcase your beautiful MGs and take a look at many British cars that will all be competing to take home a 2019 Winners choice award!
Make sure to make your reservations now if you want to attend and participate in the very popular, extraordinary Wine Cheese and Beer Tou, taking place on Friday, September 20 through Sunday Sept. 22. Russ and Amy Mehaffey are organizing and hosting this incredible weekend again! I can ASSURE you, this is an AWESOME Event you will want to be a part of!! All the details are listed in this month’s Driveline.
The last event for September is brand a new event hosted by Jim Compton & Bob Dorley. On Saturday, September 28th, Jim & Bob have planned a day at the Volo Car Museum. I heard this is a fascinating museum and should be a great day for club members to gather about and enjoy the exhibits!! There will be details in this month’s issue as well.
