The weather couldn’t have been nicer to watch the Ponies race! Although the temperature was quite warm, it was sunny and we were fortunate enough to be comfortable in a shaded area with a pleasant breeze and a GREAT view of the Start/Finish line! Some people chose to bring their own lunches and beverages, while others chose to grab lunch at the park’s concession stands.
It is all about the hat! Great looks, ladies!

Everyone had such a grand time walking around the beautiful grounds of Arlington Park and going to the paddock to see which horse and jockey looked like a “winner” when it came time to place a bet! Speaking of bets, some of the members picked winning horses, but Jane Kasper and James Brennen had Lady Luck on their side!! They won quite a few races, along with Kerry Hickenlooper who also picked the right Ponies that day!!!
Aside from the horse racing entertainment, the ladies and gents where asked to bring and wear a “Kentucky Derby Hat” for the “BEST” hat contest. Everyone voted on which hat they liked best (1st, 2nd and 3rd place).
Appropriate trophies for the winners!

We had a total of 8 participants showing off their fabulous hats! All these winners made their own designs for their hats….they were truly magnificent and one of a kind!!!!!
The winners were:
3rd place - Phil Wydra
2nd Place - Sandy Wydra
1st Place – Bob Lee’s Granddaughter – Addison.
Whatever age anyone is and whether you place bets or not, Arlington Race Park is a stunning and electric atmosphere which puts smiles on everyone’s faces and just plain makes for a “FEEL GOOD DAY”!!!!!
