Chicagoland MG Club: Driveline November 2019

Autocross

Well the 2019 Autocross season is over. Looking back we had three dates on our schedule. We averaged 3.7 members per event. I think that was rather disappointing. I was the only member to attend all three events. Dean and Troy each attended two events with Ross, Dino, Kevin and Cliff each showing up for one event. Troy is the new regular on the MG autocross team.

I hope now that Kevin has his car running again he’ll join us next season.

I really would like to see more folks come out and try their hand at autocross. But, if that’s not your thing, how about stopping by and cheering us on for a couple of runs. We would love to see you out there, and we give rides!

While our times were well off the time of the day. Our MG’s are typically almost 10 seconds slower than the fastest time of the day. But you only really race against yourself. Our MG’s are typically the oldest cars on the course and I think some of the other drivers appreciate what we do with these sports car legends.

Going over the times for the season. Dean and Troy are fighting for the fastest MG. My car is the slowest. Now you ask why that might be? Well as many folks know my car rides high, even for a rubber bumper. I run regular street tires. I do take consolation in that on my last outing my fastest and slowest times (without cones) were within one second. So I think I’ve got the nut between the seat and the steering wheel pretty well snugged up. Time to make changes to the car.

So that wraps up the 2019 Autocross season. I do hope I’ve inspired you to come out to these events. They really are a lot of fun.
