Yup, here we go again another Thanksgiving morning and the Weather Channel says it’s going to be in the 60’s. The MG was all gassed up and off we go to ‘The Rock’. It took us about an hour and a half and the traffic flow was good.
About 13 MG's and other members came with their daily drivers. A 308 Ferrari, the mustang club, lotus, Toys for Tot’s motorcycles and other classic cars were in attendance.
Bill Wildt interviewed our club members in sections. It was a fun day especially spending it with our MG family. It was also convenient for us because my mom lives north on the Lake Shore Drive. With no traffic, we are at my mom’s in a half an hour. With a turkey dinner waiting and the family gathering it’s good to be thankful.
The sun was still up so off we go with the top-down back home. Just in time because the following day wind chill hit home. That means no more top-down until April. That doesn't mean I won’t drive my MG in the winter (remember we’ve been having mild winters in Chicago) I’ll just pick my days that are comfortable.
Big thanks for those keeping the ‘Cruise to the Rock’ alive.
Happy MG-ing

Well here we are at the end of November and the weather is still great driving weather for our cars. Of course for the everyday drivers, it is a bonus, but those like me, a fair weather driver, it is a real bonus. Jana and I really enjoyed our first time to ‘The Rock’ on Thanksgiving day. The weather could not have been better. When you read about the history, or remember the presentation that Ann Snyder made at our meeting last year, you can really appreciate just what these pioneers of automobiles accomplished that day in 1895! It truly is a worthy event to pay them some respect for what they were able to do on that day. The first automobile race in North America!
Our meeting last Thursday was one of our shortest of the year and the nominations for officers was completed. So the ballots should be in the mailing of the December Driveline. Also we discussed the Christmas party. It should be a really good one. Ralph has been putting in the effort to make it better than last year and that will take some doing as last year was a great event. Jana and I are looking forward to seeing everyone there!
The last two days, I have had the opportunity of spending a couple of hours riding shotgun for my grandson who is learning how to drive. We spent the time driving around all the cul-de-sacs and side streets in our neighborhood. Doing this brings back lots of memories and what it was like to learn to drive and to get that license. I have had him out a couple of times in the B, and he is learning how to drive a stick, but not this week-end, we just spent time learning and perfecting technique driving my SUV. I realize that this is mom's and dad's, job, but how could I pass up this opportunity. Obviously, I loved it!
Jana and I want to wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We are looking forward to 2013!
