“MADE IT MA, TOP OF THE WORLD”
James Cagney in “White Heat”
Somewhere during the middle of the March annual membership meeting, I found myself vacating the vice presidency and becoming president of the CMGC. Not hard to accomplish when there is only one candidate running for office.
Like most people who take over an office, I have an agenda. I have goals and I have some wishes. They all center around one core idea. DON’T SCREW UP!
My main function as I see it is to open the meeting and adjourn the meeting. The rest is up to the membership. I want what the members want. So I ask all the members, no matter how active or inactive you are, to reach out to a board member with any ideas, thoughts or recommendations you may have.
As we approach the 2020 driving season, let’s get out there and enjoy our cars. It’s quit a feeling caravanning through some little town in Wisconsin with all the residents lining the streets waving at us. Apparently, they thought we were part of the homecoming parade that we cut in front of. Oh well.
If your car isn’t running, the club will help you get it running. We have many talented members willing to lend the expertise.
If you don’t feel comfortable under the bonnet, stop by the fix it shop sometime. You can watch, help, or just ask questions. Even a novice like me managed to learn a few things during my visits.
Now if only I can get my wife and kids to call me Mr. President.
Drive safe my friends,

It’s feeling a little different over here on this side of the page. I guess it will take some time getting used to it. Kind of like putting to steering wheel on the other side of the car. But I would like to thank Phil for stepping up and filling the position of President of the Chicagoland MG Club he certainly has come up through the ranks. From Treasurer to Vice President and now up to the top President.
Back on the home front in my garage the projects seen to be nonstop with the MG V8’s new radiator and electric fan installation and getting the bugs out of the 79 B’s new engine with its pair of hs6’s, d9 cam, port & polished head and LS 1.7 rocker valve train. Only to notice I forgot to hook up the front lights on the V8 and somehow, I have trans tunnel interference with the shifter and can’t get into first gear. Then there’s the new addition to the family the 1954 TF and the MGA on the side of the garage waiting evaluation. It’s all becoming a little overwhelming.
I’d rather go work on someone else’s project than mine. I guess it will all get sorted out in time.
See you on the road
