Newer Directions Monthly Column of Driving Events

Hello All!!

I hope everyone has been enjoying the MILD weather we have been having lately! I kind of wished we had our Midget or MGB out of storage to go for a nice drive – especially on the GORGEOUS DAY we had on Sunday, February 26th!!! There will be PLENTY of beautiful days coming our way soon enough for our 2023 Driving Season!!!!!

Ann & Jake Snyder talked about the AWSOME AMTRAK trip at our last MG members club meeting. There was a nice turn out and they all had a BLAST! There should be a write up and some pictures in this months issue. Thank you BOTH again for planning this AWSOME event! Tim and I plan to definitely go next year if you plan another Amtrak trip!

Aside from March Madness and St. Patty’s day going on in March, There are (2) MG sponsored events (non driving events) this month.

The 1st event is the MG Awards banquet. Thank you Doug Clark for organizing and putting this together and changing it up a bit! This year will be a Luncheon banquet at Maggiano's in Oakbrook on March 11th at 12:30pm to 3:30pm. This is going to be a FABULOUS celebration!! I am SO EXCITED to announce the 2022 winners for the Moss Motor and Victorian British awards!!! There will be a few Honorary awards and of course the Navigiator of the Year award presented as well! This years awards are SOOOOO AMAZING (if I must say so myself)!!!!! I cannot WAIT to present them to the winners!!!! I truly hope we have a BIG turnout!!!! It’s going to be a WONDERFUL lunch and an Awesome awards ceremony!!!! Looking forward to seeing everyone!!!

The 2nd event is the Annual Swap meet, scheduled on Sunday, March 26th 8:00am – 2:00pm at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton, IL. This is always a GREAT time! Hope to see many of you there!

We have one (1) driving event scheduled in April. To kick off the driving season, The Annual Spring Tune-up, hosted and organized by Wilbur (Bill) Mennell will take place on Sunday, April 15th. More information on this in this month’s driveline and the website.

Please save the dates for (2) events coming up in May:
Saturday, May 13th – The Senior Car Care Safety Clinic – Organized/hosted by Jim Vondran
Sunday, May 21st – The Chicken Run Rally – Organized/hosted by Ray &amo; Sue Hansen.

I think this is going to be a GREAT year for driving events! I have already heard from quite a few members who have STEPPED UP (again) to organize and host events. There are still plenty of available dates open should ANYONE want to organize a Rally or Driving tour. I cannot stress enough how gratifying and fun it is to plan an event!!!! I look forward to hearing from anyone who is interested in getting a date on the calendar!
