Spring Chicken Run May 22, 2022 Spring has sprung and the club enjoyed the first rally of the season. Not sure if Sue & Ray Hansen did a non-rain dance or the chicken dance, but after two days of heavy rains, Sunday arrived bright and sunny. The skies were clear, the roads were dry, and the participants were ready. As the entrants arrived, you could spot the MG B’s, A’s, and T models. There was even a Jaguar making the other chickens a little nervous. However, the real fox in the henhouse was the yellow Ferrari that arrived early licking his chops. But once everyone got comfortable with one another, all 15 cars flew the coup after testing their depth perception skills trying to back up and then pull forward up to the dreaded rubber chicken stick without so much as harming a single feather. The drivers then headed out across five counties in a quest to find the answers to some very well thought up questions while trying to stay on course. There were a few cars who wondered off route with the driver cackling that the navigator screwed up, while the navigator cried rotten eggs and blamed the instructions. No rally would be complete without one breakdown. Fortunately, it was soon repaired by the skilled owner dealing with some fuel contaminants. Eventually, the whole brood came home to roost at Rooster’s Barn and Grill in Bloomington. While everyone enjoyed a good meal, Ray and Sue put on their accounting hats to tally up the scores. The third-place award went to George & Jana Phariss. Second place went to Rick & Nancy Maitzen. And first place went to Phil & Sandy Wydra. The club thanks Sue and Ray Hansen for initiating the 2022 driving season with a fun and well-organized rally. ~~ Ray & Sue Hansen |
