On a beautiful summer evening, the CMGC and VMGCC were prominently featured on the main drag of downtown Westmont as part of that suburb's weekly summer festivities. Capably hosted once again by Bill Kalafut and Jean Heasley, and ably assisted by photographer daughter Carolyn, this was a chance for club members to showcase our LBCs, stroll among other cruise night vehicles, check out the vendors, and socialize.
It started with a check-in at a tent where registration envelopes were ready for those who said they would show up for it (or, at least threatened to). Each envelope included an agenda, a "Walking Tour" quiz sheet, a ballot to vote for the favorite British cars, a dash plaque, and a poker chip to be exchanged for a meal (pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, macaroni & cheese, chips, and cookies) that the hosts arranged. An ice-packed cooler with bottled water was provided, as well - and much appreciated.
To help promote the MG marque, CMGC promotional material was displayed on a table, should passersby be curious. Club members were encouraged to take some to pass out on their own in the future.
The aforementioned walking tour consisted of identifying MGs throughout the decades from pictures that were displayed from the inside of the windows on Bill's and Jean's place of business. The amount of walking during this activity was greatly reduced from previous years, and instead amounted to standing outside and looking at the pictures (which greatly reduced the likelihood of a Club member - who shall go unnamed - of showing up unexpectedly, and uninvited, in a neighboring backyard...).
