MGs bring back many memories.

My love for cars began when my father took my hand and placed it on my mom and dad’s 1968-69 VW bug stick shifter - I was around 7 to 9 years old at that time. I thought that was so cool and every time I went somewhere with my dad, he would take my hand and teach me to shift gears.

Many kids have memories of things that happened when they were young– one of my most precious was shifting gears in our old stick shift Volkswagen. So much so that I would eventually build up enough courage to take their car when I was underage and had no license. Yep, I was that kid.

My love for shifting the VW has now been transferred to my MG - and boy do our MGs have characteristics - some are sassy, and some are just so lovable, yet others can be a PIA.

If you came to our last meeting Jeff Powell did a presentation (Spare Parts for your MG) on what to carry when driving an MG on a long trip. Jeff handed out a list of all the important items that all of us should have in our when traveling. Thank you, Jeff, I am working on my list to ensure I have most of these items with me when traveling (if you did not get a list or were not at the meeting, please email me and I will send the list to you).

I would like to thank everyone so far who has done a presentation at our meetings, the meetings have become highly informative and engaging. This could only happen when people with knowledge and skill step up and teach us. Special thanks to - Ryan FrazierHaggerty Insurance, Dean HickenlooperLap the Lake Rally, Steve Skegg (Steve came in with bucket of bad parts and explained to us how they got this way). And of course, Jeff Powell.

In September – Dave Bralich & Kevin Carlson will share Skills of racing.

We are searching for more presenters, We still need for someone to present in October and November. If you are interested, please reach out to one of the staff members.

OUCH!!!

My MGB got its first dent. Not just a scratch a full out dent.

The right front fender got a what I would consider a major dent. So what happened? Well I had a hard top for my MGB and I had it hanging from the ceiling in my garage. I thought it was secure, but I guess maybe not.

From what I understand my son was pulling is bicycle out and hit the hard top. By the time he got out of the garage with his bicycle the hard top had fallen. Well accidents happen so now I just have to get it fixed before the rust starts.

All in all, it’s not a big deal and it may spark me repainting the car. The first step for me will be to lose the rubber bumpers and think about how that extra weight is going to effect the suspension. So now the road to seeking my original vision for my MGB will begin.
