Car projects
Steve Sparks – Having car vibrations at a particular speed. Performed wheel alignment, rotated tires – no change. Replaced 1980 165/R13 tires - appeared to do the trick.
Club Project Car – Paul Pickley noted that the 1974 MGB-GT will be moved to Tom Raddatz’s shop soon. All members will have an opportunity to assist in getting this car running and ready for sale. Welding will probably the first task on the agenda.
Driving Events
Past event was: The Hot Dog/Poker Run – July 24th.
The Driving Events Calendar is filling in. Upcoming events are: Westmont Crusin’ Nite August 18th, British Car Festival September 11th, and Tally-Ho Rally moved to a new date of September 18th.
Old Business
Website – Working on Legacy-to-new format transitions. Some archive datafiles will be kept in legacy format with data pointers.
New Business
Guest Speakers –September - Dave Bralich & Kevin Carlson will talk about MG Racing.
British Car Union (BCU) – The CMGC is responsible for marshalling at the British Car Show in September. We need a Marshalling Coordinator for this event.
Hosting NAMGBR in 2025 – Malissa expressed an interest in having the CMGC host this event in Chicago area. Melissa had a preliminary meeting with NAMGBR official – Tony Burgess. Two levels of commitment were presented -1) CMGC would take complete control of event to include assisting with contract negotiations, scheduling events, activities, venue locations, registration, etc. This level of involvement would allow for the CMGC to retain most profits after expenses; the alternative commitment 2) would be to assist NAMGBR with all aspects of the event but not have responsibility and therefore would not be a recipient of any profits. A voice count of the membership acknowledged the CMGC would prefer the alternative involvement. Profit was not our original intention of the hosting the event in Chicago. Additional discussions will be needed.
Elections – CMGC staff elections will be happening soon with nominations open in September. Melissa Gonzales, Paul Pickley and Kevin Carlson – President, Vice-President, and Treasurer respectively – have indicated they will be on the ballot. Secretary Victor L’Heureux will be stepping down after thirteen years in the position. Driving Events Coordinator Jamie Schafer will also be looking for a replacement although not an elected position.
With no further business to discuss, meeting closed at 8:38 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Victor L’Heureux
CMGC Secretary
