OLD
BUSINESS
Business
Meeting:
The Annual Business Meeting and Awards Banquet conducted on February
7, 1999 was well attended. A State of the Club presentation was
made by the Club President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer,
following which drivers' awards were presented.
NEW
BUSINESS
Driving
School:
Reinout Vogt will run the Driving School at Utica, Illinois on
April 11, 1999. Look for further information in the Driveline
or on the website. It is rumored that the Club will be attempting
to rent a high-tech sports car for use by the members on the track.
Tune Up
Party:
The Annual Tune Up Party will be conducted on April 18, 1999 between
the hours of 9:00 AM and 2:00 P.M. at Marks Goodyear in
Darien, Illinois. Check the Driveline for exact location. Following
the Tune Up Party there will be a pizza fest at Pappa Passaro
between 2:00 P.M. and 4 PM. The restaurant is located on Cass
Avenue in Darien. Be sure to check the Driveline for the exact
location.
Swap Meet:
On February 28, 1999 the all-British car Swap Meet and Jumble
will be conducted at the DuPage County Fairgrounds in Wheaton,
Illinois. The event will run between 8:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. We
expect a major turnout, and Jim Evans is still looking for help
in running the event.
Summer
Party:
John Twist's Annual Summer Party, run through University Motors
in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is now scheduled between August 20
and August 22, 1999. Diana Gonzales is seeking a picnic committee
to arrange for food and drink for Club members at this event.
In the absence of volunteers, we will not have any facilities
available at the event. Please contact Diana if you wish to participate.
Christmas
Party:
Diana has also announced that we will need a Christmas Party committee
to run and arrange this year's Christmas Party now scheduled for
December 4, 1999. Likewise, if there are no volunteers, the Club
will have no party this year. Please contact Diana as soon as
possible since reservations have to be booked within the next
60 days.
Regalia:
Curt Bork has indicated that the Club will be ordering enamel
grill badges at a projected cost of $22 each. The minimum order
necessary is 50 badges, but we anticipate ordering between 75
and 100. Please contact Curt if you are interested in ordering
a badge. Currently we have commitments from approximately 30 members.
British
Car Union:
Dave Bralich, Club rep to the BCU, has announced that there will
be an increase to $15.00 this year for attendance at the Sept
12, 1999 Car Festival in Des Plaines, Illinois. The Club has committed
to providing volunteers for traffic control. Please contact Dave
if you are available. Please note that the event this year falls
on the Jewish High Holiday so your Club Secretary Steve Selan
will not be attending. We need a volunteer to work the booth to
sign up new members. Normally we pick up at least 15 new members
at this event, so it is important that we have someone there all
day.
Land's
End Rally:
Tom Josefek announced that the Land's End Rally will be scheduled
to run June 12 through 13, 1999. It will be a longer rally of
240 miles. Registration will start in March for a fee of $35.00
per car that will include two meals for two people. The event
will terminate at the Don Q Motel in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. Reservations
for rooms should be made promptly, and more information will be
available in the next issue of the Driveline.
Dues:
Club dues are due by April 1, 1999 following which date members
who have not paid will be dropped from the roster.
St. Louis
Endurance Rally:
Bill Hedrick and Kim Tonry announced that the St. Louis Endurance
Rally will be run again this year between March 20 and March 21,
1999. You can contact them for additional information.
Tech Session:
March 6, 1999 a Tech Session will be conducted at Al Piemonte
Ford to be run by John MacLean and Dennis Trowbridge. This promises
to be an interesting event at which time a four-speed transmission
will be rebuilt.
Progressive
Dinner:
Pam Hirsch and Deb Mennell are interested in hosting a Progressive
Dinner for Club members sometime in September of this year. They
anticipate four to five different homes will be visited. If you
are interested in being a host, contact either Pam or Deb.
